Winamp, AC3 and SPIDF...MASS confusion!

Hey guys, here's the problem.

I have an album that's in .ac3 format,it's an audio album. I've also downloaded the ac3filter 1.43. How should I set all this up with an Audigy2 card? For example in the ac3filter settings, for output format do I select 5.1 channels or Dolby ProLogic II? When I enable SPDIF then all I get is a ton of noise and no sound.
Any help would be appreciated.
